💜The Gift Of A Quite Mind 💜

When Your Subconscious Finally Gets Quiet Enough to Hear God

Have you ever noticed that the answer you’ve been searching for doesn’t usually show up while you’re searching for it?

For me, it happens while I’m creating.

I’ll be pouring resin, painting a canvas, walking Abby, washing dishes, or driving down the road. My mind isn’t trying to solve anything. In fact, I’m thinking about something completely different.

Then…there it is.

An answer.

A connection.

A memory that suddenly makes sense.

An idea for a chapter in my book.

A lesson God has apparently been teaching me all along.

For years I thought I had to force clarity. I believed if I just thought harder, prayed harder, or analyzed everything one more time, I’d finally understand.

But that’s not how it works.

I’ve realized that while I’m busy living, creating, and simply being present, my subconscious is still working. More importantly, I believe God is working there too.

Sometimes He waits until all the noise settles.

Sometimes He waits until we stop wrestling for control.

Sometimes He lets us get our hands busy so our hearts can finally become still.

That doesn’t mean we stop praying or seeking Him. It means we stop believing everything depends on us figuring it all out.

There’s a difference.

I’ve spent a lot of my life overthinking. Looking back, I can see how much energy I wasted trying to solve tomorrow while missing today.

Now, when an idea comes, I simply smile.

I write it down.

I thank God.

Then I keep going.

I’ve learned I don’t have to chase every answer.

If it’s from Him, it has a way of finding me exactly when I’m ready to receive it.

Maybe that’s where you are today.

Maybe you’ve been trying so hard to understand your life that you’ve forgotten to live it.

Take a walk.

Paint something.

Read a few pages of your Bible.

Sit on the porch.

Watch the rain.

Play with your dog.

Do something that lets your mind breathe.

You may discover that God has been speaking all along. You were just too busy trying to hear Him your way.

Sometimes the breakthrough doesn’t come when we push harder.

Sometimes it comes when we finally become still enough to listen.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
